A phrase often uttered by Doug on a variety of topics. But, it fit him, his obvious talent, and ability to fit into most any musical project perfectly. Not only was Doug a master of the instrument, jazz harmony, and fitting seamlessly into a section – he had an innate curiosity into the physics of saxophone mouthpiece design and invented his own ligature design. One of the top call saxophonist/woodwind doublers in Nashville, Doug also toured with internationally-known artists and was a member of the Muscle Shoals Horns, Muscle Shoals All Stars, and the amazing Nashville Jazz Orchestra and Sapphire Blue Horns.

Unfortunately, Doug left us in January 2021 and his presence and musical genius will be missed by his students, his fellow musical peers, and especially his family.
